Open the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone/iPad). Search for “Instagram. " Tap Instagram in your search results. Tap Update if an update is available.
On some platforms, this icon will look like a paper airplane instead.
If you want to create a new chat, tap the plus (+) icon in the upper-right corner. Then tap the contact you want to have a chat with.
To do so on Android, tap the name of the person you are chatting with in the upper-left corner. If you are using an iPhone, tap the icon of an “i” inside of a circle in the upper-right corner.
If you don’t see the Themes option, you’ll need to enable Messenger features on Instagram. Here’s how: Return to your feed and tap the profile icon at the bottom-right. The options listed below “Themes” will change the background color. The options listed below “Color & Gradients” will change the color of the text. A theme may look different if you turn on Dark Mode.
Dark mode typically uses less energy and is less of a strain on the eyes. You can also enable dark mode in other apps, including TikTok and Twitter.
