Filled with all manner of creepy crawlies, the bug wing is not one of museum-owner Blathers’ favorites. Despite this, he does want it filled, and players will need to scour their islands for everything that crawls, buzzes and bites. Humblest among the latter of these is the flea, which can be a little difficult to track down. Here’s our guide to finding the itchy pests before they drive the island’s villagers insane.

To Find a Flea
Unlike many of the bugs on Animal Crossing’s islands, the flea can’t be found in the wild, under rocks, or in trees. Instead, fleas will occasionally pop-up on the bodies of villagers, just like they would on any animal.
There are a few ways that a player can tell if one of their villagers has been afflicted with fleas. The first is a very quiet jumping sound effect when the villager approaches. This is accompanied by tiny, bug-like shapes jumping up and down on the villager that they’ve made their home on. The villager will also complain about itching if spoken to and seem generally unhappy.
To Catch a Flea
Fortunately for the inhabited villager, removing fleas in the Animal Crossing universe seems to be a relatively painless process. To do so, players should get their bug net ready and approach the villager. Hold A to ready the net while standing a little way back, to avoid initiating conversation, and then move forward and swing.
If everything has gone to plan, then the player character should go through the standard bug-catching animation, and the flea will be caught. Naturally, the villager will be relieved to be freed from the itching pest, and will thank the player for their help. It’s worth noting that Fleas don’t appear on villagers all year round, but between April and November in the Northern Hemisphere, and October and May in the Southern Hemisphere. This gives players plenty of time to find one, though other bugs, like the tarantula, will be gone by the end of April.
