As in real life, some players may expect to find flies anywhere without worry, however, getting a fly to spawn requires certain items to be placed beforehand. This is very similar to the process of getting ants to appear, but different and more common items are required instead.

Before trying to get flies to appear, players should note that they will not spawn if it is raining outside. It’s best to do the steps to get flies to appear after the rain stops as forgetting the dropped items required can negatively affect players’ town ratings in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
In order to get flies to spawn, players need to place trash items on the ground that are fished out of bodies of water. Flies can spawn with only one piece of trash, but the more trash that’s on the ground will increase the spawn rate. Players will be able to hear a loud buzzing coming from the tiny bugs that signify their presence.
Flies won’t immediately appear upon players dropping their garbage, so players should leave their trash alone for a bit as they wait for the pesky bugs to appear. After some distance and time has gone by, flies should be buzzing by the discarded filth for players to net up.
While flies are easy to make spawn, appear at all hours, and appear at all times of year, they are not worth farming for as they only sell for 80 bells. Unless players want to get a model fly from Flick, they aren’t really worth catching more than one of.
After catching a fly, once again, players are highly recommended to pick up all the trash they dropped, as having garbage on the ground affects the island’s overall rating. Players can use this trash to create DIY items or they can be sold to Nook’s Cranny for a couple bells.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.
